Chess Poem

On a board day
I went to the pawn shop
Near Castle bay
Next to the dairy queen stop
And being the king of white lies,
I confessed to my bishop later that night,
I rooked the cashier into forking ties
Of cash over for a counterfeit check.
Faster than a lancing knight,
His face turned flush and then pale white
I moved before he could yell his hate,
“Something’s off with your check, mate!”
